On top of the list of beauty principles, the necessity of maintaining one’s roots is a mandate that’s widely respected and universally followed. But lately Voodou have seen some of our favorite trendsetters bucking convention when it comes to their hair colour.

Rather than requesting highlights keeping it simple with one colour, ladies like Drew Barrymore, Nicole Richie, Alexa Chung and Katie Perry are opting for a look that’s both directional and youthful—Ombré Hair.

Ombré ordinarily refers to a fabric dyeing process that produces a light-to-dark colour graduation of colour and the stylist’s have taken this idea and ran with it! Reversing the rules and keeping the roots darker and extending the colour through to the ends of the hair. The end result can be either subtle or striking mixing tone and texture for a beautifully unique look.

Economically and stylistically it’s a win win situation, a trend that lets you grow the roots out?! We want it!
