What is Balayage hair colour?

Balayage is a way of painting soft highlights throughout your hair.  It is a free-hand technique which allows us to put your highlights exactly where they are needed.  It will give you hair a beautiful natural look with no hard lines.

Balayage for Blonde, Red and Brown Hair?

Yes - Balayage is an artistic technique of applying hair colour - and so can be used on all shades of blonde, brown, red, auburn or even grey hair.

Are Babylights and Root Stretch the same as Balayage?

Balayage goes by many names and your Voodou colour specialist will understand exactly what you want if you mention balayage, babylights, baby balayage, root melt, root stretch, colour melt or free-hand highlights.  If you've seen a look you love, show the image to your colour technician so we can adapt it perfectly for you.

How should I prepare for my Balayage hair colour appointment?

Book in for a full, free consultation so we can assess the condition of your hair and advise you on what is achievable.  The health of your hair is always a priority for us. We will also ask you to come in for a quick skin test at least 48 hours before your hair colour appointment to make sure you will not suffer any reactions to the chemical processes.

How long will it take to create a Balayage look for me?

Your appointment will take at least two hours, depending on whether we are adding balayage throughout your hair or just to the bits we can see (half a head, for example).  If your hair is damaged, your appointment will take longer as we will work with you to improve the condition of your hair so it is ready for the colouring process.

Are there any 'downsides' to having Balayage?

The great news is that this is a relatively low maintenance look.  Your Balayage would need to be re-done at least 3 times a year with a 6-week colour glossing touch-up to freshen it up in between visits.

How much does it cost to have Balayage? Your Price Quote :

It depends on whether you opt for a Full head Balayage, Part head Balayage or Glossing - your stylist will quote you during your complimentary consultation.  You would require a cut & finish with your hair colour.  Cuts start at £30.  Check out our prices at each of our salons.

We also offer a range of discounts on Balayage.  Our offers include Half Price Colour services on Thursdays and Sundays at Voodou, Last Minute Deals and our New Client Offer.

Are there similar looks I could try without going for a full-on Balayage colour?

We could add face-framing highlights to brighten the look around your face - rather than running colour throughout your hair.  This is classed as sample/part foils around your face.
