BAFTAs 2013 – The Hairstyles!

The rain might have been a wash out at last night’s BAFTA awards but the BAFTAs 2013 hairstyles were anything but!

We’d predicted a while back that Anne Hathaway’s highly anticipated performance as Fantine in Les Miserable would make the world recognise more than just her voice and we were not wrong. Anne Hathaway’s short pixie crop hair style has definitely seen a rise in popularity since the Les Miserables trailer burst onto our screens with her micro fringe also making a big statement when it comes to 2013 hair trends.  Even though her micro fringe has had time to grow, Anne Hathaway’s BAFTAs hairstyle is still very popular when it comes to hair cut requests from our clients.  Good on Anne for winning best supporting actress too!

Ballet bun hairstyles and updos continue to dominate 2013 hair trends. Amy Adams wore her trademark strawberry blonde hair up high in this wide ballet bun.  This hairstyle is perfect for bad weather as it meant Amy’s naturally wavy locks didn’t become dishevelled in the downpour.

Paloma Faith – God love her!  She’s mad as a box of frogs and we love how ballsy she is to carry off this fantastic avant garde up do.  Wonder if any of our Voodou stylists will be recreating Paloma Faith’s 2013 BAFTAs hairstyle this week!?

Other 2013 BAFTAs hairstyles on the red carpet included Sarah Jessica Parker – once again displaying her trademark Ombre hair colour.  The biggest shocker for us though was the UK’s first Lady of Ombre Caroline Flack – it looks like her two tone locks are no more and it’s back to brunette for Caroline.  We predict that won’t last long on the controversial TV personality who is well known for her daring wild side.  We expect something more dramatic from Cazza in the coming weeks.

Pastel hair colours are once again a big hit in 2013 and we’re not sure if this is just the light reflecting on Dame Helen Mirren’s BAFTA hair or whether she’s decided to swap her trademark sophisticated silver hair for a milky pink pastel hue?  Stop press! Someone’s just shouted across the office that Helen Mirren DOES have pink hair!  Gotta love Helen Mirren, she rocks.

Jessica Chastain showed just how to really showcase a delicious strawberry blonde hair colour.

Beards seemed to be the trend for the evening with George Clooney and Ben Affleck both opting for some facial follicle fancies.

We’ve just done a straw poll in the salon though and general consensus is that George is about a week’s worth of growth away from looking more vagrant than va-va-voom and if the little sex pot was in Liverpool we’d frog march him down to Voodou For Him for a precision wet shave straight away.  We also reckon he’d turn the clock back a bit as beards although nice to look at, not nice to feel on your face and they certainly do add years to a man’s complexion.
