The Voodou salon group in Liverpool has proved itself a cut above other hair salons in the country, by picking up the Marketing Campaign of the Year award at HJ’s British Hairdressing Business Awards 2019.
Recognised for an outstanding creative vision and marketing strategy, Voodou beat competition from five other British finalist salons to win the award. Sally Marketing Manager and Anna Head Of Social, who work at the three-salon group, received the trophy at the Westminster Bridge Park Plaza Hotel in London on September 9th. Celebrity host Vernon Kay presented the accolade at the high-profile affair, which attracted peers and influencers from the hair world.
Voodou’s clear branding and marketing plan impressed a host of industry judges, standing out for its creative vision and seamless way of using all marketing channels to retain existing clients and attract new customers.
Commenting on the announcement, Jayne Lewis-Orr, executive director of HJ’s British Hairdressing Business Awards said; “Voodou has crafted an amazing, multi-layered communications plan that brings existing customers closer, and new ones through the door. It takes a brilliant and strategic mind to link all aspects of promotions together and really shows an understanding of the market and the way in which people are interacting with businesses.

The awards, now in their 21st year, celebrate the people making the British hairdressing industry the most respected in the world.
The sixteen categories spotlight the people making the industry great, from the best team, to most accomplished salon manager, to outstanding assistant to new innovation. Franchisee, stylist and customer care programmes are also recognised in the line-up, as well as specific awards for salon design and the stylist making the most of social media to grow their business.
Delighted with the win, Rob Webb, Managing Director said: “This is amazing. Not a lot of salons have a dedicated marketing team, so for us to win an award for it is amazing. This year we are attracting new clients every single day through effective Facebook advertising. We see the impact every day and we know it has paid off, so to be recognised for that is fantastic for the whole team.”
